TRUTH: Revolutionizing Hair In Second Life

Every so often a product comes out that changes the way everyone thinks about that commodity. Take Vista’s bento hands for example. They were the first bento hands publicly available and nearly everyone was fascinated, if not addicted, to the new and future possibilities. This week TRUTH released a hair product that is doing the very same thing, this time with no extra Linden Labs technology needed.

A Brief History

If you’ve ever purchased hair in Second Life, and even if you haven’t, you’ve likely heard of TRUTH. Named for the founder and designer, Truth Hawks, TRUTH is perhaps the most popular and successful hair brand in Second Life. While he specializes in women’s hair Truth has also developed some clothing and accessories. His products are found at his in world store, the Marketplace, and various events across the grid. He even created Uber, a sales event that both customers and designers look forward to every round.

The 10th Anniversary of the brand has brought much celebration! Here is a handy list so you don’t miss anything:

  1. Through May  12 (Noonish)  Extended through May 16!
    • Much of the in world store (including his clothing line ALT by Truth) is 70% off.
    • Rumor has it that the sale may be extended due to high traffic and high demand. Sale is officially extended.
      • The prices are insanely low so I wouldn’t wait to shop.
    • This sale is open to the public.
  2. May 12 (Noonish) – May 13 (Midnight) TBA
    • The store will be closed to the public during most of this time for a VIP Exclusive event.
    • Details on the sale are still to come, but we know featured items will be 50% off and it may be extended if needed.
    • Not a VIP member? It’s well worth joining! Check below for more info on how and why.
  3. May 13 (7PM) TBA
    • Store opens to public to showcase the VIP sale.

Fantasy Avatar: The Glaistig

Recent dark and fantasy events such as We Love RP, Memento.Mori, and The Dark Style Fair 4 have been grabbing the attention of alternative avatars all through Second Life. In celebration I designed an avatar loosely based on a mythical being from Scottish folklore. The Glaistig is represented in many different ways, but almost all of them share the theme of a woman/goat hybrid. With that in mind I created the creature for this post.

7 Deadly s{K}ins

The skin used for the Glaistig is Nove by 7 Deadly s{K}ins. Nove is found at The Dark Style Fair 4 (aka TDSF4), an event celebrating all things dark. She comes in two packs, both of which include omega appliers for the face and the body in five skin tones. The first package includes the fair tones Snow (shown here), Cotton Candy, Apricot, Sand, and Caramel. The second  includes the darker tones Walnut, Chestnut, Taupe, Cashew, and Pineapple. Each pack is on sale for L$699 at the fair.

To find 7 Deadly s{K}ins at TDSF4 simply port in, head West until you reach the pathway, then follow the pathway South. You’ll find 7DS in the last booth on the right.

All Dressed Up & Nowhere To Go (ft. GeMyles)

GeMyles has created a fun exclusive camouflage set for this month’s Fashion Dazzle. It can be worn as is for a casual setting yet it’s easily spruced up with jewelry for a more formal look. The set includes both the Arianna Dress and Monaliza heels for only L$99.

Let’s start with the Arianna Dress. I really love the low cut on the front as well as the open back. It’s great for showing off any tattoos or just a bit of sexiness. I’m also a big fan of layering, which this dress lends itself well to. Sexy applier lingerie, especially one with a decorative back, would look wonderful with this.

A Moment Of Macabre (Memento.Mori ft. ~Songbird~)

Four times a year Second Life is graced with the event known as Memento.Mori. The event caters to the macabre, horror, and Gothic sides of Second Life. This is a great opportunity for those of you who like unique avatars. At this event you’ll find a far different look than the stereotypical pretty outfits and makeups. Regardless I, and many others, still see much beauty in the products.

Memento.Mori opened last night at 3PM SLT. It will close May 27, 2017 at 9PM SLT. Make sure to get in and see all the cool things! Today you get to sneak a peek at some awesome gore tattoos by ~SongBird~.

In Love With A Monster

The first thing I noticed when putting on In Love With A Monster was how deep the wounds appeared. They aren’t just scratch marks; you’ll notice the tender skin around the wounds themselves. This is perfect for any avatar looking for harsh wounds on the back. The tender skin is more noticeable on pale skin, however the scratches still work wonderfully on darker tons as well. The way the marks fit the body looks painful yet oddly elegant. They work in both a sexual setting where the scratches may have come from somebody in front of you and in an attack setting where perhaps you were mauled from behind.

Organizing Your Second Life Inventory

As you explore Second Life you’re bound to pick up some items along the way. Okay, who am I kidding, you’re gonna have WAY more than some. You’ll find that your inventory fills up super quick, especially if you’re visiting events or freebie areas. Second Life inventory management is something that everybody can benefit from. Whether you’ve been playing a week or a decade I can help you get that inventory under control.

Your Concerns

I know that there is at least one of you reading this with a mental dialogue of reasons why you can’t organize your inventory. I’ve made this list just for you.

  1. “But Asia! I have SO many things! It’s impossible to organize this mess!”
    • I promise you it’s not impossible. It’s not even hard.
  2. “But Asia, it’s gonna take forever!”
    • If you want to do it all at once it’ll get done fast but feel very time consuming.
    • If you do it little by little it gets done over time and doesn’t feel like it takes much work at all!
  3. “But Asiaaaaaaa! I’m afraid I’ll stop halfway through and everything will be so confusing!”
    • Actually if you organize your inventory the way I do it is not confusing at all. All your old stuff will be (almost) exactly where you left it until it’s sorted.
  4. “But Asia I actually don’t need to organize. I can just use the search bar to find what I need.”
    • That’s wonderful when you know the name of what you want. What if you’re just looking for shoes to go with your new outfit but aren’t sure what matches right? Do you know the name of every pair of shoes you have? If not you can benefit from a little organization!

The Totally Not Overwhelming Step By Step Overview

I know, I know. This has a LOT of information. You don’t have to apply every little thing, simply take these ideas and tailor your organization to your needs. Here is the basic overview with link to each section for more info.

  1. Start fresh.
  2. Create folders for your stuff.
  3. Sort your stuff.
  4. Trash or box what you don’t need.
  5. Enjoy the perks of having an organized inventory!

Fantasy Avatar: Disturbingly Beautiful (Moth Woman)

I created today’s avatar in celebration of the Fantasy Faire. Second Life has hundreds, if not thousands, of events but a few things make the Fantasy Faire stand out. First, it’s massive. You’ll find more than 200 designers spanning over a dozen themed sims. Don’t be intimidated though, there’s a handy shopping guide to help you out. Second, it’s extremely in depth. This isn’t just a sale, this is a full fledged Faire. There are live events going on throughout the entire duration of the Faire.  Third, and most importantly, the Faire is participating in Relay For Life. As of this post, Second Life has raised over L$4,000,000 (nearly $16,000 USD) for the American Cancer Society. You can see up to date totals at Relay for Second Life.

This is a very important cause for me as my mom beat cancer last year.

7 Deadly s{K}ins

The base for this disturbing yet beautiful moth woman is the skin Opal from 7 Deadly s{K}ins. Opal is a paper white skin, however there are variations for purchase. Each eyebrow color comes in an Omega applier pack with three skin variants including both the face and body. You can choose from pink, blue, white (seen here), grey, or no eyebrows for $L499 each. The fatpack includes all 5 colors as well as black eyebrows for L$1,996.

The Opal shape is also on sale for $L299. The shape is designed for Catwa’s Catya head and Maitreya’s Lara body. The main images in this post don’t use the Opal shape, however you can see it on the promo image below.

Another huge perk of such a pale skin is the tint factor. If you use body parts that have tint options for the skin layer you can tint this white to any available color. It’s wonderful for fantasy avatars of all hues!

Opal is available at the San Mora Fantasy Faire sim.
